USA

San Francisco
-lovelovelovelovelovelove-

Because my parents did a road trip through the western United States and because I wanted to meet up with a friend and because San Fran is my favourite city of the States ... I made a trip down there and met my parents and littl brother Theo.

I dont know if its important to tell you some fact about San Fran... San Francisco is the most densely settled large city in California with 6people per km2.
1776 colonists from Spain established a fort at Golden Gate and a mission named for Francis of Assisi on the site.
1967 the Summer of Love and the gay rights movement cemented San Francisco as a center of liberal activism in the United States.
San Francisco is today one of the most visited citys in the world.(ranking 33 of the top 100 most visited cities worldwide)

I think that San Fran has a lot of economy through his location and due that it contains a lot of different cultures. As we walked through the streets I saw so many different people. Munich is special, I thought, but San Fran is crazy! I wasnt there in 1967 (how could I) but some of the people Ive seen there gave me a little impression how it might have been in the Summer of love!
A couple of weeks ago I watched some old "Queen"-music videos ... and as we sat there in the shadow trying to figure out where the bus station is we were looking for, 5 gay guys walked by and I felt like in one of this videos... perfect outfits, slim jeans, printed shirts with plunging necklines, mustaches, wild curly hair, golf shoes, leggins, leather jackets... I was a second to late to ask them for a picture, but thats how San Francisco feels to me. It feels more real to me. Munich has this kind of spirit still a bit, but not as much like SF.

And the hills and the fog make San Francisco indescribable special.
Just to walk up and down and have another breathtaking view after the next hilltop gives the city her own character.
Mom and I have been downtown the other day, it was after five and usually around 5-6pm the fog takes over the city. We went into a shop and as we came out again the it felt like in one of the old Sherlock Holmes movies, dark, foggy, clammy...  we wanted to take the cable car back to our room and it was amzing to drive through the foggy streets, really special!
I loved it!!!!!!!

being a tourist III

Waterton
"where the mountains meet the prairies"

on my way back home from the Diltsfarm to Calgary I wanted to spend the day at Waterton Nationalpark. The park sits in the extreme south-western corner of Alberta. It shares boundaries with British Columbia and also with Montana.
The reason why I desperately wanted to visit this nationalpark was a picture of the Prince of Wales hotel in my travelguide which I bought as I started to plan the trip.
It was so worth the trip!

I probably saw a perfect scenery... hot, sunny weather, cristal clear turquoise shining water and a stormy wind!

my personal favourite picture

Right next to Waterton is a Canyon named Red Rock Canyon.
A red coloured mineral gives the Canyon his colour. After hard rainfalls the water is turning red and washes out some of the minerals of the rocks.
